Each company needs to tailor their text message specifically for their target market, however there are a few golden rules that you can follow to get the best out of your SMS campaign.
Don’t use text speak. Text speak can be confusing and project an unprofessional image.
Don’t cram in too many points. A text is only 160 characters so don’t be tempted to crowbar in loads of offers. Keep it simple, concise and clear.
Tell your audience who you are. This may seem an obvious point but don’t assume that your audience will know who the text is from.
Have a strong call to action. Don’t just quote your phone number but ask the customer to call it. “Call us now on 01234 567 890”
Use an attention grabber. Start your text with an attention grabber that will entice the customer to read on. Usually a couple or single word in capitals works well.
